Snowmobiling - The perfect ingredient to experiencing a large selection of breathtaking views accessible by snowmobile is the Edge. Surrounded by over 1300 trails between the Tug Hill and the Adirondack region. Both locations averaging 200-300 inches of snow per season. While visiting our area please become a member of our local snowmobile clubs. They need your support in order to keep our trails well maintained and groomed. The corridor B trail is directly connected to The Edge Hotel driveway. Skiing - Just a short distance away is one of the states best-known ski resorts. Snow Ridge has a variety of downhill ski and snowboarding slopes ranging from the "Bunny Hill", for the beginner, to the "Racing Hill" and the "Terrain Park" which has a 48 passenger school bus for a hit located mid hill. There is also access to cross-country ski trails atop the slopes. Snow Ridge has a Boots & Boards ski shop for anyone who doesn't have their own equipment. After a busy day on the slopes come back to the Edge for comfort and relaxation. Canoeing / Boating - If you like to canoe there are several waterways in Lewis County, as well as many different places to launch from. There are also boat launches in several nearby locations. While floating downstream you can take in some of our great wildlife. Whitewater Rafting and Kayaking - The two magnificent rivers in our area can take you from one extreme to the other. The "Moose" is full of adventure. Some of the best waters are found here. Taking you to the highest level (class 5) possible in the spring to the best calm & serene family rafting in the summer. The "Black" river has up to class 4 waters and is a dam-controlled river. This river is great all around and holds many adventures for all levels of rafters. White Water Challlengers Four Wheeling - is one of the most popular recreational sports in the North Country. There are hundreds of trails scattered throughout the Adirondack Tug Hill area for your use. We have trails ranging from rough and rugged terrain to more leisurely terrain for viewing the vivid scenery or to check out some of the amazing wildlife. Whatever kinds of riding you are looking for, Lewis County has many trails to accommodate you. Also while visiting our area please become a member of our local ATV clubs. They need your support in order to keep our trails well maintained. Hunting & Fishing - With more than 175,000 acres of public land within it's borders. Lewis County offers some of the best hunting in New York State. We are located in the northern zone. Whether you are looking for big game such as Bear or Whitetail Deer, or small game like Rabbit, ruffled grouse, woodcock, or turkeys, there are plenty of places to find what you are after. There are a large number of rivers, lakes, ponds, and streams in Lewis County that hold a wide variety of different species to attract any angler. There is Pike, Perch, Pickerel, different species of Trout, Salmon, Bass, and several others. So whether you fish from a boat, from shore, or through a hole in the middle of the ice, there are plenty of spots where you can find the fish biting. Hiking / Biking - There are several hiking and bicycle trails open to the public. There are bicycle trails for the beginners to the advanced ranging in miles from 14.9 - 65.6. There are also great hiking trails located at Whetstone Gulf State Park. Trails are rated for different ability levels. No matter what trail you choose, you are sure to see an abundance of beautiful sights, as well as some local wildlife. Golfing - There are several different golf courses in the area most being 18 holes, as well as driving ranges, and also miniature golf. Most golf courses also have golf carts for rent.
